Be happy together, Believe together, Achieve together

Year 2

Welcome Back!

We hope you and your family are keeping well and had an enjoyable half term. As part of our plans to support remote teaching and learning, we wanted to let you know we are now using resources from Oak National Academy. The way that you access these lessons will be the same as before. Each day go into the daily splat and the lessons that Year 2 Teachers have selected will be there.

What is Oak National Academy?

Oak National Academy is an online classroom that has been created by teachers specifically to support pupils learning at home. It is backed by the Department for Education.

How are lessons taught?

Each lesson is delivered by a trained teacher, with a pre-recorded video, and it is made very clear at the start of each session anything you might need (such as pens, paper etc). The lessons are designed to need minimal supervision. Each lesson can be paused and rewound to help pupils learn at their own pace.  The lessons include quizzes, worksheets and creative activities to engage your child.

How do I share my child's work with a teacher?

Take a screen shot of your child's work or a photo of your child working and email it or share it on Twitter

On-line Assembly

Each Thursday at 11 am Oak Academy hold and online assembly. These provide opportunities to hear form some inspirational guest speakers, including the first British astronaut, the cast of the Lion King and the Archbishop of Canterbury. You will find links to these assemblies in Thursday's rainbows.

Oak Activity Club

Some days with feature activities from the Activity Club. These activities will hopefully keep your child active and engaged. The activities feature cook-a-longs, debating and arts activities.

If you need any help/support with your child's learning or have any questions. Please email me at:

Spelling Shed

Remember to go on to Spelling Shed and complete the weekly spellings set by your teachers. Also at 10:15 am everyday why not join our hive game and compete against children in Year 2. The hive game code will be put on twitter for you to use and join the game.

There will be a new code each day. Good Luck!

TT Rockstars

Each day there will be a new TT Rockstars battle between teams from each class (e.g. 2S boys v 2Q girls) and the top two teams will then battle against each other every Friday. To take part in the battles you just need to play the games on TT Rockstars and your scores are automatically added to your team's score. Good Luck!
