It's that wonderful time of year again when we are all encouraged to take part in a collaborative piece of art - 'The Big Draw'
This year we decided to use our 'Big Draw' as a 'launch' for our new whole school curriculum 'RICE' and our new curriculum drivers - R-elationships, I-ndependent learners, C-reative and critical thinking and E-ngaged learners.
This year has been a bit more fun than usual. The 'Big Draw' encompassed more subjects and more of our community than ever before. We made a BATIK wall hanging- a wax-resist dying technique- the hot wax is used to decorate fabric and then dyed leaving patterns, traditionally an Indian technique!
Every member of Rice Lane Infants and the wider community (children, teachers, parents, governors and other staff) were invited to add to our batik, using some Indian designs for inspiration. Our main focus was for everyone to be involved and to share our new curriculum and try out an exciting skill which I am sure was a new skill for most. Building RELATIONSHIPS, working as an INDEPENDENT learner, a chance to be CREATIVE and I am sure all of us were ENGAGED learners !
Thank you to all who took part, it's so much fun working together!
The 'Campaign for Drawing' runs throughout the whole of October, look online for some more ideas and events on www.campaignfordrawing
