We would like to offer an explanation as to why we closed early on Friday 13th May:-
At 11 O'Clock on Friday we were informed that United Utilities had damaaged a valve whilst working on the water meter and because of this we lost some water supply.
We knew the day was important to the children - Year 6 end of SATs party, Reception Teddy Bear's picnic and 1E celebratory ice cream party for attendance achievement so we really wanted to keep open. We were also informed that the water company would send an emergency team by 1pm. (This however did not happen.)
So we diverted our limited water supply to the sanitary areas (toilets and wash basins) and bought drinking water, from the supermarket, for the children.
However by 2.15 it was becoming apparent that we would not have sufficient water for all toilets to last.
We therefore sent out a text asking for children to be picked up.
Any child not picked up remained in their classroom, with their teacher, and we accomodated any in after school clubs, who could not be picked up, using the remaining water we had.
When staff were asked what the problem was, they were unable to give a full explanation as we had not been informed of the exact problem.
Our Site Manager, Mr Carr, has worked over the weekend when United Utilities have worked on Saturday and Sunday to make sure we have our water supply for Monday.
We apologise for the early pick up but hope you can understand.
