Welcome to Acorn’s class page! Here you will find lots of information about what we are doing in class and helpful information.

This term we are learning about Traditional Fairy Tales and we currently enjoying reading the book “Little Red” by Bethan Woollvin. In maths we will be spending lots of time exploring number and shape, especially around using mathematical language.

We have been doing lots of work surrounding our emotions using the Zones of Regulation. We play games, read stories and have lots of fun talking about and even acting out our different emotions.

General Class Information

The school day begins at 8.55 and finishes at 3.15. Please ensure that your child is in school on time as it is an important part of the day’s routine.

PE this term will be on Tuesday. Children can come into school wearing their PE kit or we can help them get changed in class, whatever is best for your child.

Children need a water bottle that can be left in school, fresh water is provided when needed and the bottle is washed daily.

Homework is given out on Friday’s and due to be returned the following Friday – this is usually a fun, practical activity.

 

Curriculum Overview

In Acorn our curriculum will be guided by the Development Matters, the non-statutory curriculum guidance for the early years. Development Matters sets out the learning, development and assessment required for the Early Years, until the end of your child’s Reception year.  

We follow the seven areas of learning, they are split into 3 prime areas and 4 specific areas.
