Dave Cooney is the Infant Department Learning Mentor. Dave was a stay at home Dad before he started working in Education. He has spent time in class both as a Teaching Assistant and as a Teacher. He became a Learning Mentor in 2013. Dave has experience in this role in both the Infant and Junior departments. He has had wide range of training including Anger Management, Working with children with Neurodevelopmental Difficulties, Sensory Processing Disorder, Attachment, ADHD and Bereavement. Dave loves working with children, who he believes keep him young in body and soul!
Nicci Townsend is one of the two Learning Mentors who work in the Junior Department (Mon, Tues, Wed) Nicci has worked with young people and their families in a variety of settings since 2003. Nicci's past roles have given her experience in running parenting courses, she has developed collaborative working relationships with partner agencies and skills to support and engage young people and their familes at times of need. Since becoming a Learning Mentor Nicci has trained to run a variety of interventions to support childrens social and emotional wellbeing. Most recently she has become a Relax Kids coach and Nicci is enjoying running the sessions and teaching the children new skills and techniques to use at home and in school. Nicci loves working with children because she is passionate about inspiring them to believe and to achieve their full potential.
Lisa Gilligan also works in the Junior Department (Mon, Thurs, Fri) along with Nicci. Lisa has over 20 years of experience working in education as an Early Years professional. In 2015 Lisa became a Relax Kids coach and shortly after this joined the Learning Mentor team at Rice Lane Primary. Lisa has used her skills as a Relax Kids coach in schools and in the community working with children both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Lisa also runs relaxation sessions for parents. Lisa loves working with children because through her own life experiences she knows how important it is for children to have strategies to use that work.
